The Bichon Frise a Hypo-allergenic Dog

The Bichon Frise is one of the breeds of dogs that are listed as a hypo-allergenic dog.

These dogs have been around since the 1300s but there was no breed standard or breeding program until the first half of the 1900s. It wasn’t until 1971 that they were excepted in to the American Kennel Club in the miscellaneous classes and in 1973 in the non sporting dog classes.

The Bichon should stand 9 ½ inches to 11 ½ at the withers. They should be groomed to have a rounded powder puff look. The are a happy gentle little dog.

The dog grooming schedule suggested for this dog is every 4 weeks professionally groomed. To keep them looking at their best a bath and tidy up after two weeks will do the trick.

If you are going to take care of the health and grooming yourself be prepared to use all your dog grooming tools. You are going to need your dog grooming scissors, dog brushes, dog grooming combs, and dog grooming scissors. Then a mentor or some instruction through dog grooming video or dvd may be in order.
