Canine Obesity May Lead to Other Dog Health Problems

Canine obesity is a major health problem seen all to frequently in dog grooming.

This can be the root cause of many problems. Keeping your dog fit and trim will help to stave off a myriad of dog health problems from heart problems to joint problems including canine diabetes, respiratory , and digestive problems.

Sometimes the cause of overweight dogs can stem from internal problems. These should be diagnosed and treated by your veterinarian. If the weight has come on slowly there is a good chance that it is a dietary and fitness problem

If you find you have an over weight dog try cutting back on the food. I personally love to give treats to my dogs so now I make sure that they get no more than two small treats a day at a specific time and they let me know when it their cocktail time. There are also specially formulated dog foods made for over weight dogs. Served in the right portions they should help to restore your pet to his optimal weight and or keep him from becoming overweight.

Now that you have their dietary needs under control finding a way to give your dog some good exercise on a daily basis will be an excellent way to keep them fit and their weight under control. A daily walk, a trip to the dog park, or just playing fetch in the backyard are a few of the ways to keep you dog trim and healthy.

Proper food combine with good exercise should give your dog a chance for a long healthy life and relieve you of the stress of caring for a sick dog.
