The Chinese Crested is a Hypo-allergenic Dog
The Chinese Crested is one of the breeds of dogs also listed by the American Kennel Club as a hypo-allergenic dog.
The Crested has been around for hundreds of years. Originating in Africa and traveling to China where they were bred down to toy size. During the time of the plagues they were used on board ships to kill rats. Now you can find these dogs around the world in many port cities.
The Crested should stand 11 to 13 inches at the withers and any color coat is acceptable. He is a small dog with a very big dog attitude.
The Crested was accepted into the miscellaneous class with AKC in 1985 and became eligible to show in 1991. So although it’s been around for many years it is a relatively new breed in the American Kennel Club.
Both the hairless and the powder puff variety require more dog grooming care than one might think. So with your dog grooming tools at hand these dogs will require frequent bathing, regular use of your dog brushes (now is the time for your pin brush), and dog grooming combs, plus some clipper work on the face and between the pads of the feet, along with light scissoring around the feet. The other option is using a professional dog grooming facility or mobile groomer give your dog the proper grooming care needed.
