Dog Grooming Tips for Safe Scissoring Next to the Ear Leather

This dog grooming tips and techniques page is about safely trimming close to the ear leathers. This is part of dog grooming for certain breeds of dogs such as Schnauzers and Brussels Griffon.

You want to be careful when you are doing this since there is a major vein running along the edge of the ear leather. If you cut into you can have quite the bloody mess and Rover won’t like you for it.

In your dog grooming equipment keep some alcohol. If you put some alcohol on the hair around the edges of the ear leather you will be able to see exactly where the ear leather ends and the hair starts. Then you can take your dog grooming scissors and make a close exact cut at the edge of the ear without hurting your dog.
