For Dog Shampoo Concentrates there is a Simple Formula for Dilution

With concentrated dog shampoo in our dog grooming supplies there is a bit of a challenge since you have to figure out the dilution on shampoo concentrates. That’s only a problem if you happen to be mathematically challenged like myself. Luckily like almost all things you will encounter in dog grooming there is a process to making it work.

So dig through your pet supplies and pull out your shampoo. Is it a concentrate that needs diluting? I thought so. Read what the dilution ratio is: 8 to 1? 16 to 1? Whatever it is the same formula works with all sizes of containers and ratio of dilution.

Say you have a 1 gallon container of concentrated shampoo and the directions say the dilution is 16 to 1, You have 128 ounces in a gallon. The formula is then 128 divided by 16 and if my math is correct the answer is 8. You take a gallon container put 8 ounces of concentrated shampoo in it and fill the rest with fresh water and mix well.

One more time. If you have a 16 ounce container and the ratio is 16 to one then the formula is 16 divided by 16. This is an easy one. The answer is 1. So pour 1 ounce of concentrate into a 16 ounce container , fill with water and mix well.

Buying concentrate shampoo will give you many times the original amount of the concentrate.

You may want to keep a measuring cup in your dog grooming tools that will give you ounce measurements.

There are pet shampoos that are available ready to use. Depending on what your needs are will depend on how you purchase your shampoo.
