A Poodle Is Not Only One Of The Dogs That Don't Shed But Is Also A Hypo-Allergenic Dog
The Poodle is one of the dogs that don't shed and a hypo-allergenic dog as acknowledged by the American Kennel Club.
These dogs originated in Germany and were used as working water dogs retrieving game from the hunt. The original dog being what we know as the standard or larger sized dog.
It was after they gained in popularity that these dogs were bred down to smaller sizes that at one time were used in England for truffle hunting.
These dogs come in a variety of sizes and colors. The threes sizes are the standard which a dog over 15 inches at the highest point of his shoulders, the miniature which stands 10 to 15 inches at the highest point of their shoulder and the toy dog which stands under 10 inches at the highest point of his shoulder.
Any solid color is acceptable by the AKC standard. You will find that there are a variety of patterned colors also available in the pet quality dogs.
This is a dog that is high maintenance when it come to his grooming and you will need all of you dog grooming tools. You will want you dog grooming clippers and clipper blades with a variety of sizes. Your dog grooming brushes and your dog grooming scissors.
These dogs should have the hair removed from their ears and the ears cleaned on a regular basis to keep the ear healthy.
There are a variety of trims acceptable for the poodle and his grooming should be on a regularly scheduled 4 week basis with lots of owner brushing and combing to keep the coat up in between grooming.
