Help Avoid Hot Spots with Regular Dog Grooming

Hot spots are pyoderma caused by a mass collection of bacteria on the skin which your dog’s normal body defenses can’t fight off.

This skin problem can come on quickly in any dog but will show up more in dogs with allergy problems, heavy coated dogs that the undercoat is hanging up in, and dogs that are prone to ear and skin problems in general.

These are oozing red irritated spots that have lost the hair in that area of his body. Your dog will be licking and chewing or scratching at this spot.

If you are sure of what you are looking at you can find online remedies for this problem. Otherwise a veterinarian should be consulted and he will have the appropriate medications to rectify the problem.

Once your dog is over this you will want to consider doing regular dog grooming for your pet. Good dog shampoos used regularly, using your dog brushes and keeping Rover well brushed and clipping out any matted coat with your dog grooming clippers will all help to keep his skin healthy and him happy.
