Hypo-allergenic Dogs for the Allergy Sufferer

Hypo-allergenic dogs. There’s a pet for everyone if they want.

The first question on your mind could be: Is there really such a dog? After doing some checking around I found that no dog is completely allergen free. There are some that carry less allergens than most dogs.

The dogs with the least amount of allergens seem to be the single coated dogs. There is no undercoat to drop and these are dogs that do not shed. Then you add regular dog grooming and regular use of your dog brushes in between dog grooming sessions and you will have a dog with few allergens that most allergic people can be around without having a problem. Such as Barrack Obama’s daughter Malia Obama.

These breeds of dogs as listed by the American Kennel Club are as follows:

> The Bedlington Terrier
> Bichon Frise
> Chinese Crested
>Irish Water Spaniel
> Kerry Blue Terrier
> Maltese
> Poodles ( toy, miniature and standard )
> Portuguese Water Dog
> Schnauzer (miniature, standard, and giant)
> Wheaton Terriers
> Xoloitzcuintli

If you are looking at some of the designer mixed breeds, like some of the doodle dogs, you can not be sure of what you will be getting in the way of less allergens so be careful in this area.

These breeds of dogs represent all sizes, small dogs, medium dogs, and large dogs, so there should be the right dog for any person looking.

My suggestion is that you go to AKC and ask them for names of registered breeders in the breeds you’re interested in and then go straight to them with your questions or for purchase. These are the most reputable breeders of show and pet quality dogs.
