The Kerry Blue Terrier, a Hypo-allergenic Dog for Those Who Suffer with Allergies

The Kerry Blue Terrier is recommended by the American Kennel Club as a hypo-allergenic breed of dog. He is a sturdy terrier breed first found in County Kerry, Ireland.

Used as a small game hunting and retrieving dog on land and in the water, he is also very trainable and was used in sheep and cattle herding.

In 1922 the first of these terriers appeared in the Westminster Dog Show. These breeds of dogs should stand 18 to 19 ½ inches at the withers for dogs and 17 ½ to 19 inches for bitches. A full grown dog should weigh 33 to 40 pounds with a bitch weighing proportionately less.

The dog grooming for this terrier should be done on a 6 week schedule for a full groom and lots of use of your dog grooming brushes in between times. You will get a chance to use the full range of your dog grooming tools on this breed. Clippers, scissors, brushes, combs, along with ear and nail care equipment.
