Regular Dog Grooming of the Maltese will Help Keep Him a Hypo-allergenic Dog
The Maltese is another dog the American Kennel Club has recommended as a hypo-allergenic dog. This is a small white dog that doesn’t need a lot of space to run in so he makes a great house or apartment dog.
This dog originated in Malta many centuries ago and was bred to be a house pet just as it is today.
This is a dog with an all white silky coat, round dark eyes with black rims, and a black nose. For the American Kennel Club purposes the height of this dog at the withers should be equal to the distance from the withers to the base of the tail. The weight of the dog should not be over 7 pounds, 4 to 6 pounds being the ideal weight. Please remember this is the AKC ideal dog and more than likely you will be looking for a pet. This is a great guideline but not an absolute by any means
For dog grooming purposes out of your dog grooming tools you will want to pull out your dog grooming clippers, dog brushes, dog grooming combs, and dog grooming scissors. These dogs need a regular brushing to keep the coat from matting and dog grooming is recommended on a 4 week schedule.
