A Dog Grooming Tool That You Should have in Your Dog Grooming Equipment is the Nail Clipper
A nail clipper is a must have dog grooming tool to keep in your dog grooming equipment. Either a grinder or a clipper will work for you. It's another must have for dog grooming.
Any dog supplies house will carry these items. These clippers will come in a variety of sizes, small, medium and large. You will want to pick the size most appropriate to your dog. I prefer the medium size since it will work for any size dog except the very large ones.

Some of these clippers have a guard attached to keep you from taking off to much nail at one time. This can be a plus or a minus. If your dog doesn’t have enough extra nail you can still cut into a vein since the guard tends to block your vision of the end of the nail. I like to be able to see what I’m taking off.
If your preference is for a nail grinder I find the dremel 2 speed nail grinder to be most effective for this job. You may want to keep one in your dog grooming equipment to use to smooth off the rough edges of your dogs nails after they're trimmed. It's easier and faster than an emery board or a nail file.
Your dog grooming supplies store or catalogue will also offer a nail grinder. These can be a very effective way of trimming back your dogs nails. With this it will spin so fast that if you do hit the vein, and yes it will hurt the dog and he will let you know it, it will cauterize the vein and stem any bleeding.
