Poodle Tail Setup Takes a Minimum of Dog Grooming Equipment

Your poodle tail setup is a simple dog grooming task.

I set up a poodle tail while I’m doing the sanitary trim.

A minimum of dog grooming equipment is needed for this dog grooming procedure. Your dog grooming clippers and a #10 clipper blade.

With your #10 clipper blade on your dog grooming clippers, remove the hair from above the anus to the point where the bottom of the poodle pompom will start.

Warning: Don’t clip up and down on the back side of the tail. Always clip out to the sides. You don’t want to cause your dog any irritation.

Hold the tail out straight and clip against the lay of the coat from the bottom of the dogs pompom to where the tail attaches to the body. Usually your dog grooming clippers will stop at that point.

I have seen some poodles with no pompom and the tail is trimmed to the same length as the body. Another personal choice.
