by Bruce Winther

1 qt.hydrogen peroxide 3% strength (fresh bottle)*

1/4 cup baking soda

1 to 2 teaspoons liquid soap (Any liquid soap but Ivory or Soft Soap work especially well)

Mix ingredients just before using. Apply to pet being extra careful to avoid eyes. Leave on coat for about 5 minutes. Rinse with tepid water. Repeat process if odor is still prominent.

*Peroxide loses strength after being opened.

Working and taking care of 4 dogs in a rural area of San Diego can be a challenge. The home sitting in the middle of 3 acres means multitudes of critters that visit any time of day. Letting the dogs out for the last time one night, they ran into a wonderful black and white visitor. One of the dogs happily wanted to make a new friend, and you can imagine the greeting she got. I immediately mixed the solution and applied it to her. Following the instructions,I was more than pleased at the results. I waited for a couple of hours and re applied the solution. I can not believe how well it worked and the dog was back to normal. Hopefully she will not be as anxious to make any new friends so late at night or any other time.

Most everyone has the ingredients on hand.
