Use of Stripping Knives in the Terrier Breeds of Dogs

Proper use of your stripping knives will result in keeping the proper coat for your terrier breeds of dogs. A hard coarse coat.

What you are doing in dog grooming when you strip your terrier coat is remove the dead hairs from your dog’s coat.

The hairs are coarse at the end while the inner part of the hairs are hollow and soft.

You will hold this dog grooming tool by wrapping your four fingers around the handle holding it in the palm of your hand, leaving your thumb free to do the other part of the work.

Next pinch a small amount of the hair by the ends, between your thumb and the knife blade and pull with your arm or shoulder in the direction the coat is laying. You don’t want to pull by twisting your wrist or you are likely to cut the hair instead of pulling.

If this process is done right you won’t be causing any discomfort to Rover.

You can find the appropriate knives at your dog grooming supplies store. Take a look at them and select the right ones for you and your dog.
