Tear Stains in Dogs May Be Due in Part to Dog Allergies
Tear stains in dogs is a common dog grooming problem and dog groomers see a lot of it. It not something that you can just wash away. It’s call a tear stain because the discoloration is truly a stain. This stain is caused by the fur under the eyes being constantly wet and causing bacteria to grow that stains the coat.
Of course the optimum way to handle canine tear staining is to stop it at the root of the problem. What is the cause of your dogs eyes tearing enough to create a stain? It could be dog allergies to food, pollen, grasses, or any number of other things. Maybe it’s a low grade eye infection or a blocked tear duct canal. Your veterinarian can usually make a diagnosis and give you a solution to the problem.
Whatever the problem if you stop it at the cause time will erase the tear staining from you dogs face with normal bathing during his dog grooming.
If you find that there is no absolute cure for your dogs tearing and the stains are staying where they are then you might consider a couple of different solutions for the problem.
You can use a product that is an additive to your dogs food. I have seen this product, called Angel Eyes work in dogs that I have groomed. You need to use it as directed and in a few weeks should see some major results.
The other product that I have seen available but have not seen any results as of yet is called eye envy. This is a topical non toxic solution that you apply to the staining. You’ll need to use it every day as directed and soon you will have the tear staining under control.
